Seattle from the Columbia Tower, Seattle |
Aside from the excessive rain fall we had my first week here, it has been a blast living in Seattle. Right now I'm living with my good friend Mike Johnson who went to Engineering school with me at the U of I. Seattle is a lot to get used to, there are so many people and so much to do that it kind of overwhelms you, but it never gets boring either :D.
One of the great things I got to do, thanks to my friend Tim Helmke, was go to a U of I alumni function in the Columbia tower, in downtown Seattle. Apparently the Columbia tower is the tallest building in Washington and lucky us, we were having the alumni event on the 76 (top) floor of that tall building. There were a lot of alumni living in Seattle that went to the event and it was fun to talk to them and meet up with some old friends. I can't wait for some of the alumni Sounders soccer games this summer, where we can all hang out and enjoy some good old European football!
There is something to be said about the Seattle rain though. It makes for some early blooming flowers and trees :). All the cheery blossom trees in Seattle are in bloom along with a lot of the small flowers. It adds a little bit of color to the gray surroundings and makes for a lot of fun pictures when you can catch those little dew drops on their petals :). Hopefully there will be some time to go hiking in the near future although I will probably have to hold off on that until I get my apartment situation figured out.
Work with Boeing is awesome, but there isn't much I am allowed to say about it so I don't think my work will make it into many posts in the future :P, although work never really played into my blog anyway so there probably isn't much difference now.
Here's to discovering the mysteries of Seattle and hopefully some awesome adventures!! :)
